Thinking of travelling from India to Dubai or another UAE emirate to attend interviews? The UAE has a dedicated job seeker visit visa for eligible applicants who want to explore employment opportunities without first securing a local sponsor. It is not a work visa, and it does not guarantee a job. The important first question is whether you qualify for this particular entry route.
Quick answer: The official UAE government portal lists single-trip job exploration options of 60, 90 or 120 days. Applicants generally need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, must meet one of the specified professional or recent-graduate criteria, and must satisfy the financial guarantee requirement. Approval remains with the immigration authority. UAE Government jobseeker visa guidance.
The UAE government describes two alternative eligibility routes. You must fall into at least one of these groups:
In addition, the official portal requires at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and the prescribed financial guarantee. Do not assume that every degree holder or every applicant with work experience qualifies. If your degree, occupation classification or university ranking is unclear, check with the authority handling your application before paying an intermediary.
Indian nationals can assess eligibility under the published criteria; nationality alone does not establish eligibility or guarantee approval. The relevant authority also checks the passport, supporting documents and other entry requirements. A passport with at least six months’ validity is an important starting point. If you are applying from India, make sure your qualification documents are in the form required by the service, including attestation where requested.
Before travelling, use our Gulf job documents checklist for Indian applicants to organise your passport, qualifications and employment records.
The three durations give different amounts of time for exploring opportunities. Choose based on a realistic interview plan, your budget and the period you can support yourself without employment income. A longer visa is not automatically a better choice. The immigration authority decides whether the requested duration is available and approved.
Important distinction: The period for which an issued entry permit can be used to enter the UAE is not necessarily the same as the length of your permitted stay after entry. The ICP’s 60-day service page, for example, separately states a 60-day entry-use validity from issuance. Check the dates printed on your actual permit rather than counting from the application date.
These are planning items, not a promise that every application uses the same checklist. The GDRFA Dubai service page lists the core requirements for its channel, while ICP’s job exploration service provides federal service conditions. Check the live application screen for the exact list.
Avoid buying non-refundable tickets or paying for accommodation on the assumption that an application will be approved. Also be wary of anyone selling a ‘guaranteed UAE job seeker visa’ or promising a job as part of the visa fee.
For the Dubai GDRFA channel, the published service page lists base visa fees of AED 200 for 60 days, AED 300 for 90 days and AED 400 for 120 days, plus 5% VAT. It also lists a financial security amount of AED 1,000 and related guarantee service/return fees; additional charges may apply depending on the applicant’s situation.
These are published Dubai service figures, not a guaranteed total quote for every applicant or emirate. Fees, refunds, guarantees and additional charges should be confirmed on the official payment screen immediately before applying. The ICP channel may display a different itemised breakdown.
You can use the visa to explore job opportunities and attend interviews, but you cannot legally start employment on it. The UAE government’s guidance explicitly prohibits working on visit or tourist status, even if someone offers to pay you later or calls the arrangement a trial shift. A legitimate employer must arrange the appropriate work authorisation and immigration status before you begin working.
For a fuller explanation of employment authorisation, see the UAE Government work permit guidance. Before accepting an offer, follow our UAE job offer verification guide and scam prevention checklist.
The job seeker visit visa does not automatically become an employment permit. Your prospective employer must follow the applicable work permit and residence procedures. Ask HR which authority handles the company, what documents are needed, and when your new status will be legally effective. Do not start work while the process is merely ‘in progress’.
Check whether an extension is available for your specific visa and apply before the permitted stay ends, or leave the UAE on time. The ICP publishes an extension service with conditions and limits, but an extension is not automatic. Overstaying can lead to fines. Keep the official approval and expiry information rather than relying on an agent’s verbal assurance.
No. The dedicated job exploration visa is designed for eligible applicants to search for work without a local host or sponsor. This is different from the employment authorisation needed to start a job.
The published job seeker visa criteria require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Do not assume a diploma is accepted as equivalent; ask the issuing authority about your specific qualification.
No. It provides an immigration route to explore opportunities, subject to approval. You still need to find legitimate vacancies, secure interviews and satisfy employer requirements.
No. The UAE Government’s preparing-to-work guidance says work on a visit or tourist visa is prohibited. Do not accept an arrangement that asks you to start before the correct authorisation is issued.
